Chess Pie

Nancy's Chess Pie recipe...

Preheat oven to 375F gas mark 5.

6 oz shortcrust pastry, rolled to fit a 9" shallow oblong tin.

INGREDIENTS

4 oz. soft butter

6 oz soft light brown sugar

1 egg

5 oz double cream

3 oz walnuts, chopped

3 oz pecans, chopped

1 large cooking apple, peeled and grated

Cream butter and sugar; add the egg, then stir in cream, nuts and apple.

Pour into tin. Bake on hot baking sheet 30 minutes.

Serve warm or cold with whipped cream.
